Application Process
We are glad you are considering applying to Union Bible Institute! Applications from students of any denomination will be considered sympathetically, provided each one is suitably recommended as to Christian life and character and subscribes to the Statement of Doctrine outlined in the prospectus. New full-time students are enrolled only at the beginning of each year.

General Admission
The following items are needed by UBI to process your application. The necessary forms can be downloaded below as PDFs. These can be printed out or they can be filled in on a computer.

Application form, which includes a health questionnaire (filled out by yourself)
Fee confirmation letter (filled out by your sponsor(s)
Pastor Reference letter (to be completed by pastor and sent by them directly to us)
Character reference letters (2 to be completed by non-family members and sent by them directly to us).

To process your application, send these documents to UBI, along with:

Your application fee deposit proof of payment
A copy of your National Senior Certificate

You can pay your application fee in the following ways:

1. Make a direct deposit into our account. Then email us proof of payment or post us a copy of the deposit slip.
2. Pay the money to us when you come to UBI to hand in your application forms. Please do not send any money by post.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1: Determine if you want to study in English or isiZulu.

Step 2: Determine if you want to study full-time or part-time.

Step 3: Choose your programme of study.

Step 4: Download the application pack and fee structure. The pack tells you what documents you need to send in with your application, as well as the application fee.

Step 1: English or isiZulu?

UBI is unique in that we offer accredited programmes in isiZulu or English medium. Students who are first-language isiZulu speakers often find that having lectures and assignments in isiZulu frees them to focus on the Biblical content, rather than language. Remember that if you want to do the BTh Degree programme, you must study in English.

Step 2: Full-time or Part-time?

UBI is a contact educational institution. Classes are held on-campus in Pietermaritzburg. This provides students with access to on-campus resources such as the library and computer room.

It provides opportunities for class discussions and interaction with lecturers and fellow students, as well as spiritual enrichment through chapel services, small groups and mentoring.

Classes are held daily from 7:10 am to 1 pm. Students can live on or off campus. UBI also offers evening classes for those wishing to study part-time.

These classes are from 6 to 8 pm. UBI does not offer a full-time distance programme at this time. However, a few modules are available via distance. To learn more about our student life (accommodation, campus life, etc.) go here.
