The Oral and Dental Research Institute is accommodated in the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of the Western Cape. It serves the Faculty and the community through the development and execution of distinguished, innovative and ethically accountable research and strives for the improvement and advancement of the quality of life of the South African community through its research.

These objectives are pursued with the highest possible standards. Our aim is to be a centre of excellence and to make a unique contribution to the knowledge of dental and infectious diseases and dental materials by means of tissue culture, analytical, microbiological and molecular research.
