In first year level of B.Sc. (Med.Sci), students follow a standard biological science curriculum including English and introduction to Medical Sciences.

Second year level

In the second year level of B.Sc. (Med. Sci.), students study the following modules: Human Anatomy, Medical Biochemistry, Pathology and Human Physiology.

Third year level

In the third year level, students continue with Medical Biochemistry and introductory modules in Chemical Pathology, Medical Genetics, Haematology, Immunology and Medical Microbiology and Introduction to Research Methodology.

In the fourth year of study, students choose one of the following modules: Chemical Pathology, Medical Genetics, Haematology, Immunology, and Medical Microbiology and continue with Research Methodology focusing on statistical analyses (Biostatistics). Students are introduced to specialization, i.e. choose one of the above-mentioned modules. Students are requested to carry out a research project, which includes the preparation of a project proposal, data collection and analysis and then a written project report. On completion, a student can continue directly to M.Sc. (Medical Sciences) provided he/she has met the requirements of the University of Limpopo.
