Welcome to the Department of Agricultural Economics and Animal Production in the School of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The department is delighted about your interest in our programmes.
In the context of global change, Agricultural issues are increasingly becoming problematic due to increased pressure exerted on the technical and allocative efficiency of resources.
The purpose of the programmes is to produce innovative and solution-oriented scientists, who can practice in the Agricultural Economics, Animal Production and Agricultural Extension sectors. The graduates will contribute meaningfully through research and development to the body of knowledge of the entire Agricultural sector.
Vision:
To be innovative leaders in finding sustainable solutions for Agricultural Economics, Animal Production and Agricultural Extension need in Africa.
Mission:
To produce competitive Agricultural Economics, Animal Production and Agricultural Extension professionals in Southern Africa through innovative teaching, research and community engagement.
Core Values:
The department believes in interactive learning integrated with deductive and inductive approaches. That is, teaching and learning are expected to be a two-way process where there is maximum participation of students and the facilitator.
