A student must obtain at least 30% to qualify for a supplementary examination in Report 191 programmes. If less than 30% is obtained, the student should repeat the subject on a Full- or Part-Time basis.

A maximum of five (Report 191 Business Studies) subjects are allowed for all courses on a Full- or Part-Time basis. This includes enrolments for supplementary examinations.

A maximum of five (Report 191 Engineering Studies) subjects are allowed for all courses on a Full-Time basis. A maximum of five subjects (Mphohadi Campus) and a maximum of two subjects (Sasolburg Campus) are allowed for all courses on a Part-Time basis. This includes enrolments for supplementary examinations.

A student may supplement a maximum of two subjects in one exam seating – Report 191.

Because of the open access policy of Flavius Mareka TVET College and the huge need of the community to access the College, a student may only repeat the same subject twice on a full-time basis. If he/she is unsuccessful the second time, he/she will have to supplement the subject(s) and will not able to register for a full-time course until successful. Report 191: Total time per subject = 3 times (Once on full time and Twice on Part-Time/Supplementary)

An 80 % class attendance is imperative for all students.

A sub-minimum year mark (as per DHET policy) should be achieved before a student will be allowed entry to the examination.

The Department will condone 38% and 39% in Report 191 programmes to a pass symbol if it is the only subject that a student failed.
The other subjects have to be passed.
Application to the DHET is necessary to verify and approve the confinement.
Only two confinements are allowed per qualification by QCTO. (two for N1-N3; two for N4-N6)
Two condonements per qualification by QCTO (Two for N1 – N3 and Two for N4 – N6)

Students can supplement a subject only twice, after which the subject must be offered on a part-time basis.
