FMHS Facilities

The Division: Business Management has been at the helm of a comprehensive plan to upgrade facilities at the FMHS. Work on this project started in 2010 with an initial budget of R105 million. Repairs and improvements were done to the facades of the three main buildings on campus, including repairs to roofs, the upgrading of air conditioning systems, repairs to and upgrading of elevators and improvements in terms of electronic access control.

The next phases of the project include the construction of two new state-of-the-art lecture halls, each with seating for 450 students, additional parking on campus and upgrading of residences. Other improvements include the creation of comfortable and practical seating areas in the teaching block where students can sit and work between lectures. The total spends on the project over its course will be approximately R270 million.

The FHMS also took the lead in addressing the accommodation shortage on campus by entering into an innovative partnership with the private sector for the construction of a new residence. The new residence, Huis Ubuntu House, with 152 single rooms, opened its doors in January 2013.
