The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences is a home of computing and mathematical qualifications that fosters excellence in independent critical thinking and entrepreneurship.  It also houses diverse computing and mathematics-related modules for almost all the other qualifications in the University.

The school is focused on introducing qualifications that are designed to address the trending needs of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry. The School is designed to offer different qualifications that range from Higher Certificates, Diplomas, Bachelor and postgraduate.

Students enrolled for our qualifications have the added advantage of enrolling for IBM and other industry-recognized certifications that the School offers with the industry partners. All our qualifications articulate well with comparable qualifications from other universities. Our graduates have an opportunity to acquire diverse skills through the projects that they undertake that simulate the real world.

The School currently offers two undergraduate qualifications: An Information Technology Diploma in Applications Development and an Advanced Diploma in Applications Development.

Applications for a Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology and a Postgraduate Diploma in ICT have been submitted to the Department of Higher Education and Training for approval and to the Council of Higher Learning (CHE) for accreditation. The School is targeting to introduce a Masters in Computing qualification in 2022.

The School provides an opportunity to offer ICT-related short-learning programs on request and negotiated schedules. The School is actively involved in supporting the national initiative of human capacity development in digital integration skills through its Cyber Security CoLab.

The school strives to be relevant by embracing research and engagement programs that address current problems using the latest technologies.

The School’s research focus is on Information and Communication Technology for Sustainable Development (ICT4SD) through diverse specialities, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), data science, networking, cybersecurity, information technology for education, and applied mathematics.
