REGISTRATIONS AND ACCREDITATIONS

International Hotel School seeks to quality assure its programmes through membership of a number of bodies, both educational and professional, who have an interest in promoting high standards within the hospitality industry. Our courses are both nationally and internationally accredited, and we believe that learning should be reinforced with practical training in the workplace (work-integrated learning).

Proudly Part of Sommet Education

Sommet Education is the world’s leader in hospitality management education. It has a network of three prestigious institutions: hospitality business schools Glion Institute of Higher Education and Les Roches, together with culinary and pastry arts school École Ducasse.

International Hotel School is registered as a Private Higher Education Institution with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) for the programmes as per Registration No: 2000/HE07/005. International Hotel School is a provisionally a Private Higher Education Institution with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as per Registration No: 2009/FE07/077.

Council on Higher Education

The International Hotel School and its Higher Education programmes are accredited (quality assured), by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).

QCTO

International Hotel School is registered with QCTO (Quality Council for Trades and Occupation) as an accredited Skills Development Provider (SDP) to offer occupational qualifications as per Registration No.: Durban 1223/18/0025, Pretoria 1220/18/00259, Johannesburg 1220/18/00258, Cape Town 1228/18/0025.

CATHSSETA

At IHS we offer a number of CATHSSETA (the Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority), accredited programmes within our Traineeship and Culinary Arts programmes. Cathsseta is the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) established under the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998) [the Skills Act] for the Tourism, Hospitality and Sports Economic Sector.

SAQA

All qualifications in South Africa need to be registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Our Degree, Diplomas and Higher Certificate programmes are registered with SAQA. The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute

The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), founded in 1953, has been teaching leaders in the hospitality industry for over 60 years. International Hotel School, through AHLEI, has access to a wide range of learning materials that show students how to transfer the knowledge gained in the classroom to the workplace. As the only hotel school in South Africa whose Diplomas are recognised by the AHLEI, our graduates are highly sought after by leading hospitality establishments, both locally and internationally.

Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality

The Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality (CTH) is the UK’s leading professional awarding body for programmes in the specialist growing hospitality and tourism sector worldwide.
Over the last 30 years, CTH has focused on developing and adding value to careers in the industry, globally. CTH was established in 1982 as a specialist professional body in the UK to focus on the training needs of new entrants to the hospitality and tourism industries and now has accredited colleges worldwide delivering sought after CTH programmes.

CTH ensures its quality through its approved status with Ofqual and the QCA’s UK accredited qualification framework. All programmes are developed in conjunction with the UK Sector Skills Council, People1st, to ensure relevance, value and quality. This approach guarantees that CTH programmes are valued by employers throughout the world.

International Hotel School is a CTH approved training centre and their programme has been designed in partnership with Gordon Ramsay’s Tante Marie Culinary Academy.

International Culinary Studio

International Culinary Studio meets very high international accreditation standards and verification in order to offer their accredited programmes. Their local and international associations and accreditations are highly sought after. They are the only blended online culinary educator in New Zealand accredited by the World Chefs’ Association.

They are committed to providing professional, technology-driven education which comprises a range of industry-specific internationally accredited courses, as well as hobby and Junior Chef online culinary courses. Their blended learning approach is extremely flexible, meaning that hospitality students can study and work at the same time. International Culinary Studio Diploma courses are designed to give learners the skills and experience to progress their culinary career.
