The correspondence programme is designed in such a manner that student assistance from lecturers on campus is readily available via e-mail, telephonically or via the online portal. It is imperative that the learner has access to a computer and the internet.

Part-time or correspondence study options:

Potchefstroom Academy and SAAHST have a proud history of 40 years of excellence. To ensure no student is left behind, we have a wide variety of high-quality qualifications that cater to students who can only study part-time, or via the correspondence route. Anyone is eligible if they have a computer with stable internet access, as well as the ability to access the Learner Management System to post items (like assessments etc).

Our unique qualifications fully encapsulate everything a student studying alone will require, including ways in which to engage and receive assistance from lecturers.

Potchefstroom Academy part-time/correspondence qualification:

Interior Design and Decorating: Our Higher Certificate in Interior Design and Decorating (NQF level 5) 2-year part-time qualification is ideal for those creative students with a keen eye for aesthetics. From the comfort of your home, you will learn to sensibly remodel a space with striking colours, materials, furniture, textiles, art, and other sourced decorative objects.

The study content is delivered in easy to follow study notes, that teaches you the history of décor and styles through to the décor application of interior finishes.

You will be qualified to advise clients on interior living spaces. If you are interested in the field of decor and design as a career opportunity, this qualification will open up a world of possibilities as Interior Decorator; Décor-, Colour- and Furnishings Consultant, Soft Furnishing and Upholstery Advisor, a Showroom Assistant, or a Buyer for Décor chains.

SAAHST part time/correspondence qualifications

Office Administration: The Office Administration qualification (NQF Level 5) which is available part-time is a two-year qualification that prepares students for a career in Business Administration and Office Administration. It will ensure students are able to handle the requirements of life in the office along with giving them an in-depth understanding of finances and business literacy.

It caters to those who seek to join companies and manage an office. It ensures that those keen to start their own businesses have the skills to successfully administer their own organisation. Career opportunities include HR Administrator, Business Advisor, Office Manager, and Secretary to name a few.

Technical Financial Accounting: The Technical Financial Accounting qualification (NQF Level 5) is a two-year diploma that can be completed via correspondence. This qualification gives learners a firm basis in completing a full set of accounts for a financial year, along with the ability to support management in finance and accounting. Career opportunities include becoming a SAIT Tax Practitioner, a Financial Manager, a Financial Service Manager, a Tax Technician or even an Accounting Technician. Students will be equipped with a strong knowledge base and the ability to handle accounts, taxation, audits, and be well versed within business law.

Our correspondence and distance qualifications allow access to high-quality tertiary level education without geographical constraints. It provides a qualification to working students who cannot attend classes during regular office hours but who are looking to develop their skills in their own time. While our full-time qualifications allow students to have hands-on access to our on-site facilities, our distance/correspondence learners will not miss out on having equal access to their facilitators via the internet, telephone, e-mail and through our online learning portal.
